Itinerary Options

Option 1: the MarknCoco

Featured at $2888 per person (pricing for double occupancy)

This trip taken by Mark and Coco is what spawned the website saveonafrica.com

We went, we loved it, we can’t wait to go back.

We had no idea how lucky we were choosing this trip.  It’s difficult to pick a safari package when you live half way around the world.  Once we were there we discovered there are huge differences between safari options.  For instance the accommodations.  Some of these hotels are a bit skeezy.  So much so that it would be reckless to stay in them with a family.  We will show you the hotels we include in our package. These are hotels we can vouch for as we stayed in them ourselves. The number of people in your group is also important.  This package features a private actual safari coach.  With a private safari van you can go where you like when you like.  If you want to stay and watch a pride of lions feeding you can. If you want to leave early in the morning or take a longer lunch you can.  Many of the fellow travellers we met were in large groups packed in either vans or buses.  When you are part of a group you go where the guide takes you and that’s it.  The food varies as well.  We have been there, done that.  We will take care of you.  We want you to rave about this site and our tours.  We have the perfect guide for you and can’t recommend him high enough.  He is kind, patient (Coco wanted to learn Swahili), and very knowledgable.

5 days – 4 nights

Here’s what you do

Book yourselves a flight to the Kilimanjaro Airport or the Arusha airport.

Here’s what we do

Everything else.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Airport to Hotel

Your driver Felix will pick you up at airport and transport you safely to the beautiful Four Points Hotel.  Established in 1894, the Four Points by Sheraton Arusha is one of the oldest hotels in East Africa. Saturated with the history of a bygone era, traditional ambience is effortlessly combined with the style and service you wish for when travelling. The hotel features 114 stylish rooms, free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour gym, Parachichi restaurant as well as the famous Hatari Bar. The Parachichi Restaurant, ‘avocado’ in Swahili, overlooks our beautiful garden and is the perfect place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Take a dip in our outdoor swimming pool and relax after a good work out in our new gym with view of the pool and gardens.

This historic hotel is a perfect venue with lush gardens. Depending on the time you arrive in Arusha you can either relax and prepare for tomorrow’s safari, or you can explore Arusha with Felix your driver.

Day 2   Tarangire national park

Breakfast at the hotel.  Felix picks you up at hotel at 7am.  The tour begins as we travel through Arusha on our way to the Tarangire. The views as you travel through the cities and country side are spectacular… have your camera ready.  The Tarangire National Park is the sixth largest park in Tanzania. Particularly large numbers of elephant herds congregate here, as do many wildebeest and zebra. There are also substantial populations of impala, giraffe, eland and buffalo. Thompson’s gazelle, Coke’s hartebeest, Bohor reedbuck and both greater and lesser kudu are found here. The localized and unusual gerenuk and fringe-eared oryx also occur here, though in our experience they are seen exceedingly rarely. There are still thought to be a few black rhino in the park although Mark & Coco didn’t see one. Lions are common throughout Tarangire, as are leopards and good Lord are they beautiful. Cheetahs seem to favour the more open areas of the south part of the park. We saw individual cheetahs as well as families with youndgsters. Spotted hyena are always around, and wild dogs sometimes pass through.  It is absolutely overwhelming.  We loved this place. The animals are numerous and are sooooo close!!! We were blown away.  Even the termite mounds are amazing.

Felix will provide a nice box lunch midday and following the days park tour he will take you to your next hotel, the lovely Lake Manyara Serena Lodge.  Here you will enjoy dinner and the rest of the evening to yourselves.

Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park via Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast, we’ll go to the Ngorongoro Conservation area.

We’ll descend down onto the crater floor for game viewing, Ngorongoro Crater houses almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the extraordinary and rare black rhino. You will see the greatest concentration of wild life on earth. In and around a river, several swamps, a soda lake, a forest, and open plains. Large bull elephants from this crater have extremely large tusks. Their diet is rich in minerals thanks to the volcanic soil.
